In Huayapam, about 5 miles outside of Oaxaca, is an orquid botanic garden developed and maintained by Octavo Gabriel Suárez ( an architect who also has a very cool contemporary house on the property). Mr. Suárez is dedicated to the study, cultivation and conservation of the plants of which Oaxaca has more than 700 species.
In the botanic garden, you can see see the tiniest of orquids, go across a suspension bridge, and through a bamboo forest.
And I thought the Lincoln Park Conservatory was good. These orchids are native to Oaxaca? Awesome. They're all beautiful but I love the upside-down crocus-looking ones. The bamboo is cool too.
